The Pee Wees Have Landed on Saturday
At Premier Pilates and Training, we truly love our pee wees! Each week, we look forward to seeing our little buddies in all of their pink and blue cuteness. Not even the occasional blood-curdling scream or explosive poop diaper could deter us from adding a Pee Wee Pilates class to our Saturday schedule. Besides, we miss all of our mommies who had to go back to work...we think they deserve a pee wee class too! So grab your tall skinny latte and your pee wee and join us on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m.

Perfect Skin Compliments of Elena Rubin
My New Obsession
So everyone who knows me, knows my obsession with skin care and facials. As a busy business owner and instructor I don't get the luxury of wearing make-up during work, so a fresh glowing face is really important to me. Luckily my beautiful mother passed down her good skin genes, but like most women there are times when even the best products can't help my blemishes and redness. Lately I have been noticing that my current products weren't cutting it anymore and I was thinking of trying something new....but that thought of walking into Sephora gives me nightmares.
Then I got an email from Elena Rubin, one of my long time clients, and she informed me that she was starting her own business to provide top of the line facials and a personalized skin care line. I was instantly intrigued by this Harvard educated MBA and was eager to give her products a try. But to be honest, I was nervous because what if I hated them?? What if they didn't work?? What if they made me breakout like a monster?? Then I thought of Elena at the skin care laboratory personally working with the lab technicians creating each product and realized if the products were up to her standards, than they would be good enough for me. That being said I tried 2 of her cleansers (one for the morning and one for the evening) as well as a primer/toner and I am so happy to report that Elena hit the ball out of the park. I was skeptical about the evening cleanser since it was a bar soap, but the packaging and sponge that was provided was so comfortable and easy. I must say after a week of usage that my skin looks amazing and I have already disposed my current cleansers to make room for Elena's amazing products. If you want some proof come visit me at my studio in Hoboken and you can see the flawless glow yourself!!
So you might ask, how are her facials?? As for Elena's facials, I haven't had the chance to get one yet, so I can't report back on that yet. However, I am scheduled for one on Sunday so stay tuned for the follow-up. Just be careful who you tell, because once those celebrities catch on it will be hard to get a appointment.

Pilates Studio Lashes Out
As a pilates instructor and a new mom, my feet often hit the floor several hours before the dreaded rooster crows. Consequently, dark circles and puffy eyes have become as frequent a guest as Dr. Oz is on Oprah! And let's not even get into the lack of primping time in front of the mirror...
I had a serious case of the blahs and wondered how Meg, my fearless leader, managed to stay so fresh-faced despite her daily regimen of kicking ass from dusk til dawn (yes, she wears a cape!) Enter Skyy Hadley, owner of As "U" Wish, a decadent little nook of a spa located at 104 Hudson Street in Hoboken, NJ. Turns out, Meg had been stealthily going to As "U" Wish for Xtreme Eyelashes, individual eyelash extensions which Skyy applies with a skilled and patient hand. I had to see what magic Skyy could work on me so on the eve of my girls' trip to the Bahamas, I went to As "U" Wish and got my lash on. It took some time-about an hour in total, but I figured I needed a good nap anyway! Skyy did not disappoint. My girlfriends raved about my look and demanded the name of my fabulous new mascara. When I told them about Skyy and her private lashings, they couldn't wait to book their appointments.
The service can be pricey on the first visit, but monthly maintenance is affordable and worth every penny (and Skyy has graciously offered a discount to anyone who mentions Premier Pilates and Training). I now leave the house with some bronzer and a tinted lip gloss and feel less like Mike Tyson and more like my old self (with a dash of glam).
So thank you, Skyy Hadley, our Fairy Godmother. Now if you could just wave your magic wand and bring back Kellogg's Booberry cereal, we'd be so very grateful!

Weelicious is Deeeelicious!
We've just discovered Weelicious (http://weelicious.com), a fun little website with healthy recipes for baby food, toddler food, and yummy fare for the entire family. We were a bit skeptical at first, but decided to make the Carrot Pineapple Muffins for the mommies in our Pee Wee Pilates class. Truth be told, they did not disappoint. Made with agave nectar instead of refined sugar, these muffins are the perfect post-workout nibble. Take it from a twinkie-loving chick who can't toast bread...these muffins are delicious and a piece of cake to make (no pun intended).

Pee Wee Pilates
We are pleased to announce the launch of Pee Wee Pilates, a fun and interactive class for the postpartum mom and her baby. This is a brand new class where we target all of the areas affected by your pregnancy- the pelvic floor muscles, abdominals, hips, thighs, and back- and allow you to foster your baby’s emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We offer modifications for moms in need of reconditioning after a cesarean birth or a diastasis recti (also known as abdominal separation). All you need is a blanket, your pee wee, and a desire to have some fun! So come and meet other new moms while enjoying an energizing and effective workout in a nurturing environment. Stay tuned for new dates and times as we tweak the schedule to meet your needs.

Exercise Woes of a Busy New Mom-Added by Tara, our newest Staff Member.
In the days leading up to the birth of my son, I anxiously awaited not only his arrival but also the coming of "Super Mommy." Forget that I had barely boiled water in my 35 years of life! I eagerly anticipated nurturing my newborn baby around the clock while preparing delicious five-course meals for my husband, and suddenly and inexplicably whipping my sagging, post-partum body into better shape than ever before. The plan was to be all things to all people.
My rude awakening arrived when my son came home after spending a month in the hospital. Despite all of the books and cautionary tales, I was still fully unprepared for the reality of being a mom. For the first several months, I considered myself lucky if I could brush my teeth or shower before 5 p.m. Dinner consisted of a bowl of Lucky Charms or some Uncle Ben's Ready Rice, if it was a special occasion. My exercise regimen consisted solely of 10 or so trips up the stairs to change a diaper. I still had no feeling in my midsection where my abs once existed, and I now had a substantial muffin top which hovered over the sides of my jeans. I was completely overwhelmed and utterly depressed!
After a few difficult months, I took the sage advice of a friend who reminded me that I am human and couldn't possibly provide for my family if I was not taking care of myself. I'm not referring to getting a bikini wax or a pedicure, though surely neither would have hurt! I'm talking about working some form of physical exercise into my schedule each day. I knew that I had to alter my previous notion of a workout as being no less than 45 minutes on the treadmill or a 3 mile run. Let's get real! Few busy moms are able to make that kind of time commitment for exercise. I tried to find ways to incorporate movement into brief lapses in my schedule, and at the end of the day I had managed to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise. I soon realized how vital this was to both my physical and emotional well being. I woke up the muscles that were dormant for so many months, and my strength and tone returned along with much (okay, some) of my sanity!
